Our first ever Grandparents’/Generations Day for La ola del lago was a huge success! We counted over 107 visitors who came to watch a grandson, granddaughter, etc. sing a few songs in Spanish, meet our teachers, participate in a scavenger hunt around the school, share a snack (who doesn’t love a galleta (cookie)), and visit the book fair. Grandparents also had the opportunity to learn some Spanish words and phrases! A special thanks to the Edgewood Advisory Council and parent volunteers for their help in planning and implementation. Dr. Sue Ann Gruver, superintendent of Prior Lake - Savage Area Schools, was here to give a brief introduction as well. This event was a wonderful representation of the committed and dedicated partnership between schools, students, families, and the greater community. What a great memory that our students will not soon forget!

Conference week is here! I had a blast visiting with many parents last night, and look forward to seeing more Thursday. The overwhelming theme I hear from teachers and families is how proud they are of the great accomplishments our Kindergarten kiddos have made at La ola del lago and our Circle of Friends preschoolers. We have some very happy Kindergarten (almost first grade!) Spanish immersion kiddos, preschool students, and teachers.
After your child’s conference, if there are certain requests or questions you would like to address, please contact your child’s teacher or myself anytime. I am always happy to hear from you. I can be reached at [email protected] or 952.226.0903. We are extremely fortunate to have an incredible partnership and teaming that exists between you (our parents and families) and our La ola del lago and ECFE/ECSE/Circle of Friends educators. One of the great things happening this week are the murals that Greg Preslicka is painting at Edgewood this week. The theme of his murals are "Edge of the Woods" - which of course supports our district's E-STEM initiative for all learners in our system. Working in close partnership with our Edgewood Advisory Council, we were very fortunate to find such a talented local muralist that is going to help make our awesome school even more awesome! :) Please feel free to stop by sometime and check out the progress! |
